Welcome back. The weather is starting to cool, the apples are ripe, and the School Advisory Council (SAC) nominations are in. It must be fall. I am happy to report that we have 11 members (listed below) who will be liaising between the school, the administration and the community on academic matters; and funding some of the fun events planned for the year. We plan to attend Ward 15 Council meetings, and the Parent Involvement Advisory Committee general meeting, and to provide representation on the French as a Second Language Advisory Committee(Sarah Smith), the School Improvement Plan Committee (Tamara Daly), and theSafe Schools Committee (tbd). Andrea Keech, a returning member, also supports the McGregor Garden. On the fun side, we contribute funding to many events from the Welcome Back BBQ in the fall to the McGregor Parent Conference held in the spring. Watch for our table at the upcoming Fall Fair.
In the meantime, here are some post-curriculum night tips to keep learning fun and exciting (and free). Aside from baking and going to the market, there are many ways to have fun and give your children opportunities for experiential learning in the city.
The Little Paper is a great site for fun family events http://www.littlepaper.com/. You can also sign up for their newsletter to be delivered weekly to your email.
