William Burgess School is celebrating their Centennial on May 3d!

Our neighbour school William Burgess is celebration their centennial in grand style this weekend. Check out this amazing itinerary for the day!

Here’s a message from their Parent Association:

I just wanted to let you know that William Burgess School is celebrating its centennial anniversary this Saturday, May 3rd from 1-4pm (ceremony at 1:30pm). I’ve attached the flyer for your reference and also reflected what’s happening at the celebration below.

What to See

· Classroom Art and Archives Display by Decade
· Photo Plaque Display
· Memory Book Display
· Centennial Logo Contest Entries Display
· Centennial Inaugural Assembly Video Presentation:
The Quest to find the Hidden Time Capsule , and Display of the 1994 Time Capsule Contents
· Mural in Entrance of School
· Mural on Second Floor
· Bird Art (Front and Back of School)
· Garden and Landscape Transformation, Map and Plan
· Opening of the Parent Resource Cart

What to Do

· Sign the Guest Book at the Welcome Table
· Enjoy refreshments in our garden
· Take part in a School Tour led by grade 5 student ambassadors
· Come visit the organic vegetable and butterfly gardens to learn more about how we are bringing nature back to William Burgess, to participate in a garden tour, and try your hand at some nature art
· Write a memory for the Time Capsule Message in a Bottle 2014
· Share a gift that William Burgess School has given to you/your child
· Listen to the songs performed by the William Burgess Choirs
· Visit our memorabilia table and purchase some items to commemorate the 100th Anniversary

Entertainment and Activities for all ages

· Dance and sing along to music provided by the local band, Southern Fried
· Enjoy a Magic Show provided by Alex Magic Wonder
· Take an olden day photo, as on the first day of school in 1914 at our photo booth
· Pot a plant to take home or donate to our garden
· Experience Henna Art
· Have your picture drawn by a Caricaturist

So, if you’re looking for something fun to do this Saturday, drop by the school (located at 100 Torrens at Pape and Torrens).
