Graduation Ceremony and Celebration: Thursday June 20, 2024
The June 20th activities will involve a ceremony for graduates, parents, and loved ones to attend. After the ceremony, families may stay for a short while, then graduates will have a celebration in the gym with music, a photobooth, etc. A *tentative* schedule is below – times/locations/details may change as plans are finalized:
- 3:30-3:45pm: Arrival and Seating
- 3:45-4:45pm: Ceremony (kindie alley, or gym if rain)
- 4:45-5:30pm: Family mingle, refreshments, slideshow (gym, or kindie rooms if rain)
- 5:30-7:30: Celebration for Gr5s (gym)

- We’re putting together a slide show, please upload up to 2 photos of your child from JL-Gr3, and up to 2 photos of classes or larger groups of kids that includes 2024 graduates. Upload here, please label files with your child’s full name*.
*Photos will not be posted anywhere online or anywhere else, they will be used for the slideshow only. Following preparation of the slideshow, the photo files and parent folder will be destroyed. If you’re not comfortable uploading photos to the shared folder, please submit your photo to rhgrade5grad@gmail.com with subject line SLIDESHOW and they will be held separately and included in the slideshow. If you ARE comfortable with the shared folder, please use it, it makes it much easier for us if most photos are there. Thanks all!
Field Trip to Harbourfront for National Indigenous Day: Friday June 21, 2024
Grade 5 students will attend the June 21 National Indigenous Day events at Harbourfront Centre on a field trip organized by the school. Classes will leave the school at approximately 10am and return by the end of the school day, on TTC. Parents may coordinate with one another and teachers to have students dismissed to their care at Harbourfront to enjoy celebrations and food that extend into the evening.
Fundraising Update
Thank you all for your work fundraising for the grad activities. So far we’ve raised $6,859.54 – most of this will go towards the June 14 field trip to Camp Robin Hood.
Details of the expenses and revenue are below. You can see we’re a little bit short of the target, but if families are able to bring much of the refreshments and decorations for June 20th, we may not need any further fundraising. The goal is that there is no additional cost to families for the June 14th field trip to Camp Robin Hood. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Saturday April 13, 2024 – Beaches Cinema
10:00AM Doors open, concessions for sale.
11:00AM Movie starts.
Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are on sale now until April 9th (or until sold out). E-transfer to rhgrade5grad@gmail.com, include ticket holder name in the message. Use this name at the door to pick up tickets.
All proceeds go to support Gr5 graduation party.

Grade 5 Bake Sale!

Gr5 Fundraiser Bake Sale at School!
Grade 5 students are running a bake sale Thursday March 7, ~10am-3:30pm.
All proceeds go to grad trip & activities.
Baked treats will be priced ~$1-$3. CASH ONLY!
If you’d like your child to be able to buy something, send them with money on Thursday!
If you’d like to contribute nut-free baked goods, please drop them off in the office on Wed Mar 6, or before 9:30am on Thu Mar 7. Please label it what it is, and cut it into individual portions. Individual wrapping is great but not required!

Fundraising Activities
Every year students and families fundraise to cover much of the cost of the grad field trip and party. This year’s fundraising target is $8,000 (large part is the cost of buses to Robin Hood Centre). To date we’ve raised $3,400 through the Silent Auction and Valentines Kindness.
Upcoming planned fundraising activities include:
- Bake Sale – March 7th, see above!
- Movie Night at Beaches Cinema – April, date TBD
- Krispy Kreme fundraiser – April, TBD
- Book Exchange – May/June, TBD
- Parent Social – May, TBD
- No Flyer sticker distribution
Grade 5 Families: We Could Use Your Help!
We anticipate needing a bunch of help before, during and after the June 20th party. We also expect to be putting out a request for donated or loaned items such as decorations, lighting, a photobooth, etc.
We’re also looking for a location to host the Parent Social in May – please be in touch if you can offer something.
